The Kilrush based Royal Western Yacht Club of Ireland’s October Series finished up last Saturday after 5 weekends of racing in conditions varying from too much wind to too little wind. However overall, given the time of year the conditions were good with only one race day abandoned due to the complete absence of wind.
The two fleets of IRC/ECHO and white sails sailed different courses on the 5 days of racing and with an entry of 9 boats in Class 1 and 9 boats in white sails there was a healthy entry for the event.
Adrian O’Connell set excellent courses throughout and the Shannon estuary proved once again to be an ideal venue for some great sailing.
