Please note dredging has resumed this morning , Tuesday 5th May and will continue on the ebb tide until Friday 8th May 2015. Vessels entering and leaving the marina may be subject to short delays, however access will not be affected.
Work on the lock gates is coming to an end with the lock due to re open on the 13the March, just in time for the few intrepid sailors to get a first sail of the year over St Patricks weekend.
Also the long awaited news we have all been waiting for on the dredging application, has finally come through, with the licence approval being granted. Work to dredge the approach channel will commence on the first week of April, more news on this to follow as soon as the details are finalised.
The work on upgrading the marina, its environs and the lock gates continues apace with the end now in sight. It has been a busy time lately with the Marina Centre being closed for a much needed upgrading.
The showers and toilets have been decorated, new instant showers have been fitted and the entire building has had a complete face lift making it modern ,light and bright.
Outside there is new fencing,landscaping, car parking, street furniture and tarmac which will all help Kilrush stay ahead of the pack in the Tidy Towns Competition where we hope the Gold Medal award will be retained in 2015.
At the lock gates, a comprehensive overhaul is underway , with shot blasting, and a high spec paint job is being applied . In addition new seals and timbers are being fitted to the gates. The automation project is also underway which will open up exciting new opportunities for berth holders to utilise their boats to the maximum.
Needless to say none of the above is possible without some disruption, and we can only apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused, however it will be well worth the inconvenience as we are all looking forward to the enhanced marina facilities for the 2015.
The Christmas season is almost on us and may we wish all our customers past, present and future a happy and peaceful Christmas and an excellent boating season for 2015.
The Office will be closed from the 20th December 2014 and will re open on Monday the 5th of January 2015. The phone will be manned for emergencies over the holiday and marina staff will be keeping an eye on all the boats throughout this period.
Work will be commencing on the lock gates on the 12th of January and they will be shut for a period of up to six weeks. The essential maintenance planned includes shot blasting and a complete repaint, new seals and any other issues found wanting will also be dealt with.
