Lock Gates to re open shortly and Dredging News.

Work on the lock gates is coming to an end with the lock due to re open on the 13the March, just in time for the few intrepid sailors to get a first sail of the year over St Patricks weekend.

Also the long awaited news we have all been waiting for on the dredging application, has finally come through, with the licence approval being granted. Work to dredge the approach channel will commence on the first week of April, more news on this to follow as soon as the details are finalised.

The Work Continues

The work on upgrading the marina, its environs and the lock gates continues apace with the end now in sight. It has been a busy time lately with the Marina Centre being closed for a much needed upgrading.

The showers and toilets have been decorated, new instant showers have been fitted and the entire building has had a complete face lift making it modern ,light and bright.

Outside there is new fencing, landscaping, car parking, street furniture and tarmac  which will all help Kilrush stay ahead of the pack in the Tidy Towns Competition where we hope the Gold Medal award will be retained in 2015.

At the lock gates, a comprehensive overhaul is underway , with shot blasting, and a high spec paint job is being applied . In addition new seals  and timbers are being fitted to the gates. The automation project is also underway which will open up exciting new opportunities for berth holders to utilise their boats to the maximum.

Needless to say none of the above is possible without some disruption, and we can only apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused, however it will be well worth the inconvenience as we are all looking forward to the enhanced marina facilities for  the 2015.
